Hello Families,
Our Emperor Penguin study has been a time of exploration and new vocabulary. I love hearing the children say "Antarctica". In science we learned about how they stay warm, where Antarctica is on the globe, how they get around, the birth of a penguin chick, and more. It is always fun to add to the classroom experience by doing things at home. So, if you haven't watched The March of the Penguins or those funny penguins from Madagascar, you might want to watch them together and ask your child what they know about penguins. We even had a guest speaker, Jayson, a talented 2nd grader who loves penguins come and share with the MWF class. Thank you Jayson!
Get ready to switch gears, literally, as we enter the world of wheels in February. Our classroom will benefit from lots of donated items, so please check the Giving Tree and I will list items here too. We will start our dramatic play area with a post office the first two weeks. Every child needs to bring a shoebox or CapriSun box to decorate into their personal mailbox. They will bring it home filled with Valentine cards after our Valentine party. Look for the Valentine Party sign-up sheet this week. Then the second two weeks of the month the center will transform into a bike repair shop. Please, if you have any extra tools lying around (no sharp edges) we would appreciate the donation. We also need nuts and bolts, wheels and axles, and gears. This will be a fun month of exploration!
Thank you for all your family participation in our class. You have made this year such a tremendous success for the children. Every time you help in the classroom you add to the amount of learning we can give our children.
