Farm Study

The farm study is proving to be lots of fun. So far the children have focused mainly on farms that raise animals, but this week we will also focus on growing crops. They will have the opportunity to plant and care for a seed. We will teach them about the growth process of a seed and the names of different parts of a plant. There will also be an opportunity to learn about insects, especially our garden friend the ladybug. Already the children have been finding ladybugs in the grass behind the school. Fun times!

We will focus on Eric Carle's literature this week, including The Tiny Seed  and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We will create artwork with an Eric Carle flair and create our own books.

The Letter of the week is still /t/ - timothy tiger. So keep bringing in your creative items for the box. On Friday we didn't have a chance to go over the items with all the festivities, so feel free to bring them back.

Parent Teacher Conferences:  These short meetings will begin Monday and continue this week. If you are interested in meeting but all the spaces were filled, we can discuss a good time and meet after the field trip days.

Field Trip:  Amy's Farm in Ontario was recently highlighted in the newspaper as a kindergarten class toured through. The field trip is coming fast, so sign up this week! Monday, April 13th and Tuesday, April 14th. Arrive by 8:45 am, the tour lasts about 1 1/2 hours. No food is available there,  so pack a snack. 

Help Needed:  I want to get the Space Study photos down off the wall and replace them with photos from the Unbirthday Party and Suess study, leaving some room for farm field trip photos. Thanks!
