November flew by and here we are in December quickly approaching Christmas! I thought I'd better get busy updating you on December events. The first week of December is filled with fun Gingerbread Man adventures. As you have probably noticed, our dramatic play area is now a gingerbread house where we create felt gingerbread boys and girls. I have to thank Ginger Newport with her creativity and Jennifer Shelton for their hard work in putting it together. I also want to thank the parents who helped me take down the Native American Village. Your support in in the classroom makes these adventures possible for the children. This week the children will hear many versions of the Gingerbread Man (Boy, Girl, Pirates,...) and end with a search for the runaway Gingerbread Man.
During the second and third week of December our Gingerbread house will become Santa's Gift Shop where our children will create gifts and wrap them. The process of cutting and wrapping is so good for strengthening their hands and building their fine motor skills. Please help in this process by donating small boxes (not larger than a shoebox) and scotch tape. In addition to this specific area of learning we are practicing acts of kindness, understanding the concept of yesterday, today, and tomorrow, the letter "l", "m", and "n", learning about the true meaning of Christmas, and preparing for our Christmas Party.
Our Christmas Party will be on Wednesday (19th) and Thursday(20th) at 9AM. The children should arrive at their usual time dressed in holiday cheer (nothing too fancy because we will play afterwards). I hope you will be able to stay for awhile after their short performance to enjoy a party filled with food and games. From 9:30 - 10:15 Santa Claus will visit our school. He will be outside at the playhouse for those families who would like to catch a photo-op.
Other events include being part of a parade either in Yucaipa or Beaumont (or both!).
