Hello families,
I hope you all enjoy your Easter weekend. We are gearing up for an exciting two weeks! This week includes Earth Day and we have some fun recyclable activities. I want to encourage each child to look around their home for something that can be recycled and bring it to class.
Our Dramatic Play area is going to be a science lab. ***Parents, if you have any ideas of how to add to our science experience, I would love your help.*** Right now we have plastic bugs, bug catchers, posters about ladybugs and butterflies. We have bird nests, a microscope, real butterfly caterpillars, cocoons, roadrunner eggs, x-rays, test tubes, fake snakes, and magnifying classes. Looking for bird posters, potting soil, small watering can, recyclables, search for bugs to bring in, etc. Eventually we will add an ocean component so if you have ocean posters or items, we will need those after this week. Thank you!
This week is also our last letter of the alphabet: z - Zeke the zebra. We will study "z" and then next week celebrate the whole alphabet including setting up our bikes in a zoo phonics fashion for the trike-a-thon Monday, April 28 and Tuesday, April 29.
We also have some fun plans for our Spring Sing. How many of you saw The Lego Movie? Well, if you haven't you might want to YouTube the song, "Everything is Awesome". Our spring sing song will be the chorus part of this song and I might try to combine that with the other popular movie of the year, Frozen's "Let it Go". The purpose of me telling you this is so you can look in your child's closet and start thinking of what dress-up outfit your child will wear for the show. Anything in the community works.
Renee
