We will begin our year learning more about ourselves, each other, apples and other things to do with fall. We wrap this study up with our Fall Field Trip to Willowbrook Apple Farm - thus the name Fall About Me. My first goal is to create a community of friendship in our class and in order to do that we need to get to know each other. You can help by bringing in a family photo (no larger than 5x7 that you can part with). We will be creating a class book about our families that will be in our reading area.
What to bring the first day of school:
- A backpack with a change of clothes placed in a Ziploc bag with their name on it
- Wear clothes that can get messy
- Excitement to learn and make new friends
If your child gets nervous and doesn't want you to leave, here are some guidelines that will help your child transition.
- Let your child know you are leaving with a quick hug and a kiss, please don't sneak out. Avoid bribing them or allowing them to go home.
- Give them words of encouragement and help them to locate a friend or a teacher. Stay calm and reassure them you will come back.
- Leave, don't linger it actually makes it harder. Coming back after leaving only confuses the child and prolongs process.
