December Plans

Dear Families,
I hope your Thanksgiving Celebrations were filled with family fun and making new memories. With Thanksgiving behind us all I can think about is Christmas! The month of December is filled with fun new adventures and will go by so quickly. Here are the plans and how you can help.
Our focus will be on:

• evergreen trees
• color:  blue
• shape:  triangle
• practicing numbers 10 - 19
• preparing for Christmas
• acts of kindness
• letter of the first week is "l"

Our dramatic play area has been transformed into Santa's Workshop complete with building & art supplies and elf hats. You can help by providing materials to add to our workshop like:  clean cans, Christmas colored pipe cleaners, buttons, picture mattes or flat frames, Christmas stickers, old tinker toys, random blocks, small Christmas items (little candy canes, small bells,...), simple building kits ... things you might consider throwing away but could have a new purpose. I can't wait to see what the children create! If you have building experience please help our children learn how to build something special. I have also rearranged the room to include a clay station. If you have any materials or experience with clay I would love your help in teaching the children how to work with it.
During our first week back to school we have a field trip on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 5th and 6th to one of my favorite places:  the Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert in Palm Springs. It is worth the drive and loads of fun for our children and the price is right - $4 per person. Begins at the museum at 9:30 am and ends at 11:30 am. Hope you can all come!
Our Christmas music is a children's version of "O Christmas Tree". For our Christmas Party on December 19 and 20 we will also celebrate the end of our Tree Study. This will be a time for our children to show you what they have learned about trees.
