October is here and the children are noticing how the calendar fills up with numbers and then is empty as we begin a new month. Understanding days, months, numbers, and patterns is all a part of our calendar routine. Encourage your child in understanding these concepts by talking about what day and month it is.
We have a very eventful month!
- October 6 - 10 is our Fire Safety Week ending with a field trip to the Fire Museum.
- October 10th is also our Jubilee! Don't miss this exciting event! Also, we are still in need of our game booths having people to run them. Please check our sign-up sheets and help us out. Be sure to purchase food and tickets by this Wednesday, October 8th. Tacos/quesadillas cannot be purchased on the day of, because our vendor needs to know how much to purchase prior to the event.
- October 30 and 31 is our Zoo Phonics Party. This is a fun event where the children pick a Zoo Phonics character to dress-up as. I want to encourage you to make a lower case letter out of felt to attach to your child to add to the educational side of this event. Keep it simple. I noticed that there are $5 - $8 cat, mouse, and tiger ears and tails at Target.
- Our letters for this month are: /d/ = October 13 - 17, /e/ October 20 - 24, /f/ October 27 - 31
- We will work on the number 4 - 7 this month
- We are focused on the color orange
- We are studying animals, our focus is on pets and our veterinarian office is a big hit!
